Volunteering

Kuraby Special School acknowledges and values the work of the volunteers in our school and welcomes those who believe as we do, that students have  the right to:

  • Quality educational outcomes within a supportive school environment,
  • Opportunity to reach their potential in the areas of physical, emotional,  intellectual and social development,
  •  Be treated with dignity and respect,
  •  Have their uniqueness and giftedness recognised and nurtured,
  •  Have access to a range of post school options.

Our volunteers need to have the following skills and abilities:

  • Must have a Blue Card
  • Enjoy working with students with disabilities
  • Be happy and positive
  • Show initiative e.g. engaging the students in a positive way if the teacher is busy
  • To become familiar with a classroom routine
  • Be an active member of the team
  • Learn about the individual needs of the student e.g. Strategies for managing their behaviour.

Please contact the school for an interview and application package.
